Hush Waterford The only thing anyone smells is the unpleasant lingering effects of your digestive disruptions Bum , fart and belch are frequently used, presumably to inject some humour, I am no prude, just found it cringeworthy The plot is convoluted, contradictory and complicated and there is a vast cast of characters who are added randomly throughout the story and which I continually lost track of and kept having to backtrack to get clear in my mind There are a few discrepancies too, Flynn has a Dalmatian dog and although they did apparently become popular in the UK in the late 1800 s, this novel is set in 1818 Also, probably a typo, but irritating nevertheless, amendable instead of, I would think amenable Flynn and Angelina are sweet, good and honourable characters and theirs is a love story worth telling and the original idea was good but I feel Collette Cameron tried to pack too much in and ends up overwhelming the reader this reader anyway I am definitely in the minority in my criticism of this novel so perhaps it is simply that I do not appreciate the writing style of this author The premise, generally good writing and lovely characters should have earned this novel 3 stars but in the end only 2.5 because of my criticisms only mine though as I said, Ms Cameron has many admirers as is evident in the grading of other reviewers

Angelina and Flynn have both had the proverbial rugs pulled out from beneath their lives, thanks to her bigamist husband and his father To avoid shame and scandal they are scrambling to pick up the pieces to rebuild their lives and protect their families When Lina s uncle, a creepy Duke with an unpleasant connection to Flynn s father, gives them a chance make that an ultimatum to do both things at once by getting married they re incensed, but know they haven t much of a choice Lina gives Angelina and Flynn have both had the proverbial rugs pulled out from beneath their lives, thanks to her bigamist husband and his father To avoid shame and scandal they are scrambling to pick up the pieces to rebuild their lives and protect their families When Lina s uncle, a creepy Duke with an unpleasant connection to Flynn s father, gives them a chance make that an ultimatum to do both things at once by getting married they re incensed, but know they haven t much of a choice Lina gives Flynn her stipulations and though Flynn knows it s not legally enforceable, there is no doubt he will honorably uphold their bargain They marry in Scotland, and spend some time with his family at Craiglocky, who readers will recognize if they ve read Ms Cameron s Castle Brides series The sexual tension was great as they battled with the desire to make their marriage real in every way Things become evendramatic when an unfortunate event strikes Lina after a lady from Flynn s recent past appears, and Lina s quasi stepson Jacques warns her that his father has discovered her location and wants her back Add to that a twist involving her uncle.I have to say the way Flynn and Lina first meet was so adorable I admit I gave Flynn a bit of a hard time at how reluctant he was to marry Lina because he was in mourning Not that a parent s death isn t to be respected but his father was the one who got him into the mess to begin with, though his vulnerability was most definitely exploited by the duke Call me cynical but I felt that most men of that time would take the chance to completely restore the family legacy, regardless of the bride, as men were much freer to do what they pleased in a marriage anyway But upon further thought, I suppose marrying a stranger, arranged by the man you despise most in the world, is a pretty big deal, and obviously Flynn is not most men He s very sweet and protective of Lina when he finally officially meets her, as well as with his family.I love the honor and selflessness of these characters their willingness to make the best of the situation, as well as their choice to forgive, move on and be happy instead of insisting upon retribution There s just the right amount of action and drama, and delightful humor as evidenced by the increasing list of rules Lina gives herself for interactions with men My only small quibbles are that Pierre seems like a bit of a mustache twirler villain at times, and Lydia s coincidentally showing up at Craiglocky My mind was like of all the keeps in all of Scotland, she had to walk into this one I also love that the characters from the Castle Brides series are interwoven here though it s not necessary to have read them they re all stand alone and that we get a peek as to what s upcoming for some of them I m curious as to whether Jacques meeting Seonaid at Craiglocky is also a coincidence or if he knew she was there I so look forward to reading their stories, and whatever else Ms Cameron has up her writing sleeve I highly recommend any and all of Ms Cameron s books and dare you not to fall in love with her characters note I was given an ARC in exchange for my honest review

You know what was great about this book The lead characters are really nice people They don t snipe at others, argue or yell They care about their families and each other They want what is best for those that they love and when tragedy is upon them, they deal with it together It s rare to read a historical romance novel with such lovely main characters.Angelina has been duped by her brand new husband She flees to England to wait out the scandal and perhaps start a new life When she arrive You know what was great about this book The lead characters are really nice people They don t snipe at others, argue or yell They care about their families and each other They want what is best for those that they love and when tragedy is upon them, they deal with it together It s rare to read a historical romance novel with such lovely main characters.Angelina has been duped by her brand new husband She flees to England to wait out the scandal and perhaps start a new life When she arrives in England to stay with her aunt and uncle, she finds out that she is pregnant She isn t actually married, as her husband Charles, is actually a married man named Pierre, who also happens to be a slave trader It s a disaster, but her family is protecting her.Flynn is experiencing just as many problems as Angelina His father got drunk, gambled away everything that wasn t entailed and then killed himself His mother experienced a stroke at the same time and he has to find a way to keep his father s enemy from claiming his marker from the gamble his father made The author writes Flynn with such compassion You feel for him as he is such a caring son and desperately wants to save his family A solution comes from Angelina s uncle Ambrose, who is the man Flynn s father gambled with He tells Flynn that if he marries Angelina he will forgive the debt Flynn can t understand how marrying Angelina is a problem that must be solved He finds her lovely and beautiful He doesn t believe that Ambrose isn t cooking up something to trick him, but he can t fathom what.I loved how Angelina and Flynn are honest with each other Angelina doesn t shy away from telling Flynn the truth about her circumstances and what he would be getting himself into Flynn also is completely honest with her about what transpired between his father and her uncle They come to their own terms and agree to try marriage for at least a year The only slight deceit in the book is that Flynn thinks that the terms he created with Angelina can t be enforced by law Everything that was wrong with Angelina s first marriage is better with Flynn He treats her so well and she is happy with him When things inevitably go wrong, they lean on each other and trust in each other to solve the problems I totally loved that I enjoyed that they didn t turn away from each other and were a source of support There are some amazing twists and turns in this book things you see coming and some that you don t There is great drama along with the beautiful love story I really enjoyed this book because the author made Flynn and Angelina such wonderful characters It was fresh and original that they were so good and that you could root for them and the adversary they faced, without having to overcome some character flaw like arrogance or temper This was my first book by Collette Cameron, but it won t be my last Reviewed for www.kiltsandswords.com

Can a woman who s vowed to never trust a man again and an embittered lord find contentment in an arranged marriage neither wanted My review Will a woman betrayed by the man she loved and a man finding himself bordering destitution be able to see past their own deceptionOh my The opening chapters felt like a grand tragedy, as both main heroes find themselves in dire if not tragic circumstances. Then I do not know how, Mrs Collette Cameron plays her magic and words and situations reverts everything to set a different pace. This story is a bundle of emotions, from sadness and hurt to anger and rage but also laugh and joy Be warned the first two chapters are sorrowful as Angelina and Flynn get their dreams shattered to piece Even if it is not named, while Angelina was willing and anticipating her wedding night , the way her husband treated her, it was simply a rape. There are so many twists and turns, it is nearly impossible to summarize everything, still as a first in a series, it introduces aplenty of characters which will have their own story in the books to come. And now I want to read their adventures too. Then, what about Angelina and Flynn, both surprised me They didn t take the road I would have expected, they never let their anger get in the way of their wits, they ponder before acting.Oh they are far from flawless, and it is what make them awesome characters.Angelina is an impressive strong woman, when she could have decided to hate the life growing inside her womb and leave it behind, she instead choose to make a living for its sake, refusing to abandon her child to come She is overprotective and thinks ahead. But it does not sum up all her strengths, she has also a wild side, and some humor.Yet she lacks of self confidence as the men around her blatantly feasted on hers, destroying the trust she could have had.Flynn as a man enjoyed his life with no restraint, until everything went crashing down His reaction to his near destitution shows the real Flynn, not the social animal but the man who cares for those he loves, a man does his best to right the wrong done, and a man when he should hate the person responsible for his dear situation, he chooses to weigh his options by agreeing to the trap set for him.He is also not one to judge and dismiss Angelina because of her predicament He is a protector, and a defender is what she really needs.Their most important trait is their willingness to discuss and be straight, with time, it might help them form a truce, and even move forward.Mrs Collette Cameron gave her characters a true voice, they express their struggles and doubts, but also the shift in their feelings, it makes themblood and flesh than paper and ink She champions their actions and helps them to forge ahead. One last word about the vilainS, as there is not one but two, while I disliked the cunning cheater, Angeline fell for, the Duke is probably one of the most awful characters I have read for long There is no blood nor torture but the way he tricked Flynn s father and how he reigns on his household, shows the true monster housed in his soul.5 stars for this awesome tale of acceptance and resilience I was granted an advance copy of the enhanced rerelease of this book, I also own the first version. Here is my true and unbiased opinion.https www.facebook.com 429830134272
