What I loved The kids, Clayton and Neecy It s one of the few times the children of the adult characters arefun to read about andinteresting than the main characters themselves I liked these two so much that I envisioned them as a grown up couple rather than their parents. The tattoos I love ink on people that actually MEANS something The main characters both had ink that spoke to their nerdy bookish sides.BOOKS Nothing better than characters who write books, read books, love b What I loved The kids, Clayton and Neecy It s one of the few times the children of the adult characters arefun to read about andinteresting than the main characters themselves I liked these two so much that I envisioned them as a grown up couple rather than their parents. The tattoos I love ink on people that actually MEANS something The main characters both had ink that spoke to their nerdy bookish sides.BOOKS Nothing better than characters who write books, read books, love books, work around books, blog about books, attend book conventions and even have book tattoos In short avid bibliophiles like me.Speaking of book tattooshmm I need to design something like that for myself. What fell flat The main characters I get it The hero, Trey was still mourning his wife and because of that pretty much became a hermit He also had issues with speaking in dealing with the public, another reason for him to keep a low profile He s also raising his five year old son Clayton as a widower The heroine, Reesa was also dealing with her past and wondering of it would ever catch up to her, which of course also kept her from living She s also raising her five year old niece, Neecy.Yes, they were both wounded souls somehow drawn together But damn there was just way too much unnecessary drama, too many secrets that really didn t need to be secrets Parts of the book really dragged on far too long with the main characters feeling entirely too sorry for themselves, and frankly not having a damn good reason to Especially Reesa who pulled herself up from a bad situation and became successful. So why four stars Overall this was a great love story with great characters, they just happened to not be the main ones I was farinterested in Trey s brothers Zach, Sebastian and Travis especially Travis I loved Reesa s Mama Ang and her best friend Farrah Still, considering that I haven t read a lot of IR recently, this was actually pretty decent

3.5 starsAfter being disappointed in the second book in the series, Razed, I am very happy that this third book came roaring back to be almost as enjoyable as the first book Wrecked. This book features yet another Barnes brother, Trey From the previous books, we know that Trey is an author, a widower, and a single dad raising his young son We also know that his wife s death hit him really hard.Well in this book we see what happens first hand as the prologue takes us back to the night his wife p 3.5 starsAfter being disappointed in the second book in the series, Razed, I am very happy that this third book came roaring back to be almost as enjoyable as the first book Wrecked. This book features yet another Barnes brother, Trey From the previous books, we know that Trey is an author, a widower, and a single dad raising his young son We also know that his wife s death hit him really hard.Well in this book we see what happens first hand as the prologue takes us back to the night his wife passed away In the immediate aftermath of her death, Trey does not handle things well and he ends the night in a drunken bender awakening in a hospital himself, beaten and with very sketchy memories of how he got there.Fast forward five years where Trey, now fairly reclusive, finds himself for the first time since his wife s death attracted to a woman That woman would be a sexy librarian named Ressa whom he meets while taking his son to story time at the local library.Ressa and Trey quietly and secretly check each other out, but neither one has the courage to admit anything Sadly, they exit out of each other s orbit due to circumstances, each thinking they ve missed their chance. But later, circumstances push them together again and this time their attraction is not so secret nor so quiet One of the things that I immediately liked about this book was how much of it felt a bit of a love letter to book fiends The hero is a writer and his profession isn t just something he does, but is also important to the plot The heroine is a librarian who makes no apologies for her love of books and there are passages when the two of them geek out on books They share favorite quotes Even the heroes tattoos are all book related some are obscure and the heroine gets the references immediately They both go to book conventions, they participate in panels, they meet other book lovers Also the heroine totally fangirls over romance novels Amidst all of that there is a good romance here Ressa and Trey have chemistry to burn Even amongst the romantic conflict which veers into the angsty at times Trey is finally ready to move on It has been five years since his wife has died and even though he has made up his mind, it is still a bit hard to take off his ring I thought the author hit the right note between making us understand how devastated he was and in some lingering way still is by his wife s death But she didn t belabor it and make us feel impatient about it.In the previous book we got a lot of family face time with Trey s family Since he lives across the country from them, we don t get a lot of family interaction in this on But a couple of his brothers do appear I really enjoyed the fact that his twin Travis, enforcing the twin bond thing that had been established in earlier books, and his movie star brother Seb were both along as supporting characters and were there in key plot moments.I especially enjoyed Ressa s very quick read of Travis and vice versa They played off each other very well, two smart folks, sizing each other up real quick and coming up with the correct conclusion.I also liked Ressa s family She in loco parentis raising her little cousin Neeci, while her aunt acts as a great mother figure for Ressa. If I had a quibbleand I do it would be with the long drawn out reveal of Ressa s big secret that was preventing her from really committing to Trey I wanted to just tell her to Say it already Which, like in the previous book with Keely s big secret, when it was finally revealed I was like Wha that s it when it was finally revealed Yeah, it is the sort of thing you need to tell someone before you get serious, but I thought she waffled so long it just consumed her and in return it started to consume some of the romance But all in all this was a good romance and a good story And I hope we get Travis story next He intrigues me

3.5 starsAfter reading and enjoying Zane s story in Razed, I was very much intrigued by Trey He is a writer, single dad to a young son practically a catnip for me in romance I expected a somewhat lighter andeasy going read but was pleasantly surprised by the depth of the story The slightly darker elements that pop up here and there worked well for and added yet another dimenstion to the romance It s a multicultural romance, the heroine is African American and the hero is white and I 3.5 starsAfter reading and enjoying Zane s story in Razed, I was very much intrigued by Trey He is a writer, single dad to a young son practically a catnip for me in romance I expected a somewhat lighter andeasy going read but was pleasantly surprised by the depth of the story The slightly darker elements that pop up here and there worked well for and added yet another dimenstion to the romance It s a multicultural romance, the heroine is African American and the hero is white and I think their enthic differences were handled really well in th story they didn t overshadow the romance but not swept under the carpet either Trey was a very interesting character and I liked him from the start I found it easy to relate to him the sorrow of the loss of his wife, the difficulties of raising his son alone, the slow return to being a popular writer all were skilfully presented and felt very real His issues with romance and intimacy were well grounded, though they seemed to disappear overnight when he met Ressa It was a case of instalust love and I never really understood what made Ressa so different at first sight from all the other women Trey tried to date previously I wasn t so much a fan of Ressa She was full of life, very strong and independant, just like Trey raising a kid on her niece her own I liked them as a couple and the sex scenes were intense and very, very hot Yet I found her reasons for not wanting a relationship with Trey too contrived, if not downright silly Her unwillingness to open up to him, to at least give them a chance to be in a relationship really annoyed me Her big secret was aslo sort of a letdown I understand her insecurities and fears, yet she kept pushing Trey away and became annoying. The whole drama with Tessa s cousin and later with Trey s neighbiur seemed over the top and not really necessary It added some suspense to the plot but I could have done away without it I loved Travis, Trey s twin and I m excited about his story Of the other Barnes brothers Sebastian also made an appearence, short but memorable one The almost supernatural connection between the two twins was very interesting to read and very much liked its role in the story Overall, this was an enjoyable romance with some dark overtones, likable characters and little drama Fans of the series will definitely fell in love with Trey and Ressa s story ARC kindly provided by the publisher via Netgalley

Busted, Barnes Brothers 3, by Shiloh WalkerGrade BWith each book in the Barnes Brothers series I fallin love with this family and each book gets better and better I had eagerly been anticipating Trey s story since we got to see bits and pieces of him in the previous books and all we really knew was he s a writer and he is a widowed single father That alone sparked my interest and I once I started reading I could not put this book down Shiloh Walker really out did herself with this one Busted, Barnes Brothers 3, by Shiloh WalkerGrade BWith each book in the Barnes Brothers series I fallin love with this family and each book gets better and better I had eagerly been anticipating Trey s story since we got to see bits and pieces of him in the previous books and all we really knew was he s a writer and he is a widowed single father That alone sparked my interest and I once I started reading I could not put this book down Shiloh Walker really out did herself with this one We switch sides of the country for Trey s story and end up in Virginia where Trey meets Ressa Bliss a librarian who his son and himself take a liking too right away Trey has not let himself even consider the possibility of dating since his wife died five years earlier and every date he has attempted to go on was a disaster With Ressa Trey feels a connection he never expected to feel again but struggles with the idea of being with someone other than his late wife Trey finally realizes it s time to take a chance and move on with his life like his wife would have wanted but Ressa has secrets that might make that impossible Ressa Bliss has not had the easiest life and she has struggled to be where she is today With the help of her aunt she is the guardian of her young niece and loves the little girl with all of her heart Ressa still feels tons of guilt over her cousin being in jail and blames herself for it all After a fun weekend at a book convention Ressa never expected to see Trey again but she struggles with secrets from her past that could possibly destroy both her and Trey s reputations forever if they get out This books is very heavy and it will break your heart over and over again I love that this book was darker than the others and dealt with some very serious issues One of the best things about this book and it needs to happen inromance novels was Trey and Ressa being an interracial couple and talking about how people might act about it It was very real and it was great to have a heroine that wasn t blonde and blue eyed Add in the young children, both whose moms aren t raising them, and you have one of the best books I ve read all year I highly recommend this book to all lovers of romance It will break your heart, make you believe in love and laugh and cry all within a few chapters I cannot wait for the next book in this series and am really hoping we get Travis next
