This book was surprisingly good I had not heard much about this series, so when i stumbled up it I was not expecting much It proved me wrong Now, I am a sucker for a good F F paranormal, and while this didn t have romance, I enjoyed the story line I like how the main was a street kid It gave the story and extra element Not just how was she going to survive the Vamps but how will she even make it through the night I m looking forward to reading .

This is a story firmly set in the lesbian vampire genre The writing is not bad but the story has been told so many times that it left nothing really new or different for this reader If you replace Whiskey Jenna with Harry Potter and vampires Sanguires and Humans with wizards and muggles, you ve basically got most of the story Jenna is a homeless Seattle street urchin after losing both parents, whereas Harry has an unhappy childhood with his Uncle after losing both parents, but it s still This is a story firmly set in the lesbian vampire genre The writing is not bad but the story has been told so many times that it left nothing really new or different for this reader If you replace Whiskey Jenna with Harry Potter and vampires Sanguires and Humans with wizards and muggles, you ve basically got most of the story Jenna is a homeless Seattle street urchin after losing both parents, whereas Harry has an unhappy childhood with his Uncle after losing both parents, but it s still the same old story Seemingly ordinary, unhappy, emotionally undernourished kid is actually, secretly amazingly _special_, and with just a touch of initiation education, this kid is effortlessly transmogrified into an enviable, powerful Someone. This book was okay, just barely, until we got to some gratuitous gore, lovingly rendered in a flashback to our heroine s former life Even fantasy gore and implied torture upsets me Also, I never have gotten what was so damned sexy about having your neck bitten So what the heck was I doing reading this I guess you can blame Sookie Stackhouse.Comparing this to KMC Minn s _Virago_ or Jewelle Gomez s lesbian vamps, this could be seen as a big step up, but otherwise, I m not sure what it was that whoever recommended this series to me was smokin

I ve always been intrigued by stories dealing with past lives and prophesies so I thought I d give this a shot and I m glad I did This was a very good read, intense in the right places and you definietly felt for the MC Whiskey as she struggled to deal with a world she was thrust into I also liked how Redhawk didn t make the Sanguire into the cliche vampires that can sometimes happen She gave them depth and an entire history that was engrossing She also gave them a new language that was fun I ve always been intrigued by stories dealing with past lives and prophesies so I thought I d give this a shot and I m glad I did This was a very good read, intense in the right places and you definietly felt for the MC Whiskey as she struggled to deal with a world she was thrust into I also liked how Redhawk didn t make the Sanguire into the cliche vampires that can sometimes happen She gave them depth and an entire history that was engrossing She also gave them a new language that was fun to learn Absolutely loved this book
